The severe storms that blew through less than an hour ago have knocked out power for thousands in and around Arlington.
Some 3,640 homes and businesses are without power in Arlington County as of 9 a.m., according to Dominion Energy. Nearly 300 are also in the dark in the City of Falls Church, according to the utility company’s website.
Most of the Arlington outages — about 2,000 Dominion customers — are in the Aurora Highlands and Long Branch Creek neighborhoods near Crystal City. So far, there is no estimated restoration time.
In all, Dominion is reporting more than 55,000 customers in the dark throughout Northern Virginia following the storms.
