A summer of free outdoor movies is kicking off in Arlington, with screenings planned at George Mason University and along Columbia Pike.
GMU will get the season rolling with a showing of “National Treasure” this Saturday night, and more movie nights will come to Arlington Mill and Penrose Square next month through the Columbia Pike Partnership.
All films begin around sunset at 8:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets.
At Mason Square

- Jurassic Park — Saturday, July 25 (3351 Fairfax Drive)
- My Cousin Vinny — August, date TBD (3351 Fairfax Drive)
Free popcorn will be available while supplies last.
On Columbia Pike
- Miss Congeniality — Saturday, July 18 (Penrose Square, 2501 9th Road S.)
- GOAT — Saturday, July 25 (Arlington Mill Community Center, 909 S. Dinwiddie Street)
- I Know What You Did Last Summer — Saturday, Aug. 1 (Penrose Square, 2501 9th Road S.)
Arlington Mill will also be hosting the World Cup Quarterfinals at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 11.
“Enjoy international eats, music, and the electric atmosphere of cheering alongside neighbors from around the globe,” an event description says. “Bring your friends, your flags, and your team spirit for one of the biggest sporting events of the summer.”
