A 57-year-old Arlington man is facing a felony charge after police say he beat someone he knows with a combination lock Sunday afternoon.
The alleged incident happened in a residential building on the 2000 block of 14th Street N., a block away from Arlington County police headquarters in Courthouse.
“At approximately 4:35 p.m. on July 12, police were dispatched to the report of an assault,” said the latest ACPD crime report. “Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect and male victim, who are known to each other, were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a combination lock.”
“The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and medics treated and released him on scene,” the crime report continues. “Responding officers located the suspect on scene and took him into custody. James Droshin, 57, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding.”
In 2022, the same suspect — then said to be a Florida resident — was arrested and charged having a gun, ammunition and drugs in his car on the grounds of Washington-Liberty High School.
Droshin pled guilty to drug and gun charges, was sentenced to a net of 11 months in jail followed by three years of probation, and has since been charged with multiple probation violations, according to court records.
