Arlington Pet of the Week: Sammie

This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Sammie, an adopted Carolina dog.

Here she had to say about her life so far:

Hi! My name is Sammie and I’m a 1.5-year-old Carolina dog. My parents adopted me from Last Chance Rescue when I was just 5 months old.

People originally thought I was a shepherd mix but my parents realized I was a Carolina dog when they matched my dingo appearance with my cat-like tendencies.

Except, I love other dogs. Every time I see one, I forget what I’m supposed to do and I lie on my belly hoping for playtime.

I don’t bark but I sing when requested. I’m a picky eater but I love peanut butter and chicken. I’m also an avid hiker and runner; probably one of the fastest dogs you’ll ever meet.

I live for car rides too. Sticking my face outside the window is the best feeling ever. At home, I destroy stuffed animals – they never mess with me.

We live in Courthouse so when the weather is nice, I go running with my parents (really just my dad) to Georgetown and Clarendon. I love living here! I guess I’m a city girl, not a country mouse.
