A 20-year-old Alexandria man is facing a litany of charges after police say he resisted arrest while driving drunk.
The wild incident happened in Ballston this past Sunday night.

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2019-05050200, 1100 block of N. Vernon Street. At approximately 10:26 p.m. on May 5, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and made contact with the allegedly intoxicated driver. The driver was uncooperative and refused to comply with the officer’s commands to stop the vehicle. Once the vehicle was eventually turned off, the driver exited and actively resisted officers’ attempts to place him in handcuffs. A brief struggle ensued, and, with the assistance of additional arriving officer, the suspect was successfully taken into custody. During a search of the suspect’s person, he was found to be in possession of a knife and an open container of alcohol was located in the vehicle. While at an area hospital being treated for minor injuries and the execution of a search warrant, he allegedly spit on an officer. The passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment and the officer sustained minor injuries, which were treated at an area hospital. William Salgado, 20, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Attempted Person Under 21 Driving After Illegally Consuming Alcohol and Attempted Drinking While Driving/Open Container. He was held on no bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2019-05070299, 800 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. At approximately 11:13 p.m. on May 7, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, it was determined that during a dispute between known individuals the suspect produced a knife and struck the male victim. The suspect fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Arriving officers rendered aid to the victim, who was transported by medics to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. With the assistance of the Fairfax County Police Department, officers later located the suspect at his residence. Suppawat Duangsawang, 32, of Falls Church, Va., was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held on no bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (late), 2019-05070242, 1500 block of 21st Court N. At approximately 7:16 p.m. on May 7, police were dispatched to the late report of a possible breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between May 2 at 4:30 p.m. and May 7 at 6:00 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) attempted to force entry to a residence unsuccessfully, causing damage. Nothing was reported missing from the residence. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2019-05060243, 300 block of N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 11:45 p.m. on May 6, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was walking in the area when he observed a large group of males, one of whom subsequently yelled at the victim to stop. The victim continued walking, but was then approached by the same suspect, who allegedly brandished a knife, assaulted the victim and demanded his personal belongings. The suspect stole the victim’s cell phone, an undisclosed amount of cash and other belongings. A second suspect then approached the victim and threatened him. At this time, multiple additional suspects surrounded the victim, however, a witness approached the scene to aid the victim, which prompted the suspects to flee on foot. Arriving officers canvased the area and located a group of males matching the description in a lookout and detained them without incident. Jabari Johnson, 18, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery. Petitions were sought for Attempted Robbery for four additional juvenile suspects.
BURGLARY (late), 2019-05060088, 300 block of Long Bridge Drive. At approximately 11:26 a.m. on May 6, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 5:00 p.m. on May 5 and 9:20 a.m. on May 6, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry to a business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2019-05060177, 1200 block of N. Herndon Street. At approximately 4:23 p.m. on May 6, police were dispatched to the late report of breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 11:00 p.m. on May 5 and 4:20 a.m. on May 6, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry to a residence and tampered with items inside and stole items of value. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2019-05050042, 5500 block of 8th Street S. At approximately 4:03 a.m. on May 5, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that the known suspect was allegedly attempting for the second time that day to gain entry to the victim’s residence. An arriving officer observed a male matching the suspect description in a lookout hiding behind a trashcan. The suspect attempted to flee from the yard of the residence by unsuccessfully scaling a fence. The officer then issued verbal commands for the suspect to surrender, however the suspect disobeyed the commands and attempted to evade capture by striking the officer in the chest as he ran past to flee the yard. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and during a search incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of cocaine. The officer sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. Duc Truong, 35, of Falls Church, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice and Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held on no bond.
ROBBERY, 2019-05050199, 4300 block of 4th Street N. At approximately 10:18 p.m. on May 5, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was walking in the area when he noticed three male suspects following him. The male suspects approached the victim from behind and one suspect struck him with a closed fist, causing him to fall to the ground. The group of suspects assaulted the victim and stole his personal belongings before fleeing on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. The suspects are described as 3 young, black males. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2019-05020221, 1500 block of 22nd Street N. At approximately 5:45 p.m. on May 2, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, officers located a residence with signs of forced entry. A perimeter was established, the residence was searched and no suspects were located inside. The victim’s wallet was reported stolen. The suspect is described as a tall white male with a skinny build and brown hair. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2019-05010111, 2600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At approximately 10:15 a.m. on May 1 police responded to the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, it was determined that during a verbal dispute, the suspect produced a knife and struck the male victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was taken into police custody without incident. Anthony Jones, 61, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Stab While in the Commission of a Felony.
