ACPD: Driver steals another’s phone in Rosslyn road rage incident

Arlington County police are investigating a somewhat unusual road rage incident in Rosslyn.

It happened Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Key Blvd and N. Nash Street. According to police, two male drivers “were stopped in their vehicles at a stop sign when they became involved in a verbal dispute.” The suspect then allegedly threw a can at the other driver, reached into his car and stole his phone, before driving off.

ROBBERY, 2024-07020109, Key Boulevard at N. Nash Street. At approximately 12:54 p.m. on July 2, an officer was flagged down by the victim for the report of a robbery by force. The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim and male suspect were stopped in their vehicles at a stop sign when they became involved in a verbal dispute. The suspect exited his vehicle, threw a can at the victim, reached into the victim’s vehicle and stole his phone. The suspect then reentered his vehicle and fled the scene. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male with facial hair wearing a brown shirt and gray pants driving a light-colored SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
