A decades-old CVS Pharmacy has completed its relocation on Columbia Pike, shuttering its former location amid new redevelopment plans.
Workers could be seen removing supplies from the former store at the Fillmore Gardens Shopping Center on Friday. Its replacement, located about half a mile away on the ground floor of Westmont Apartments at 3301 Columbia Pike, opened in late March.
“This location offers better access, parking, and infrastructure than our previous location while ensuring uninterrupted service to the Arlington community,” CVS Executive Director of Corporate Communications Amy Thibault told ARLnow.
The pharmacy is one of several tenants to join the building in recent months, including an AllCare medical clinic and the new Jersey Mike’s. A Five Guys and waxing studio are expected to open later this summer.
The move comes as a new developer has taken up the mantle of attempting to rebuild the 2600 block of Columbia Pike as a mixed-use building with 262 housing units and four ground-floor retail bays.
The former CVS was one of the shopping center’s longtime tenants and the last to remain open throughout touch-and-go redevelopment plans. Its other former businesses include the Turkish restaurant, Atilla’s, which closed in spring 2023, and The Salsa Room, which relocated to Tysons in 2020.
Pharmacy options elsewhere on Columbia Pike include a Walgreens and kiosks inside Harris Teeter and Giant, each less than a mile from Westmont Apartments.
