For her contributions, Marymount senior receives a national award

Playing the sport of women’s college lacrosse is one of many passions for Taylor Chepren.

But that’s not the only big interest for the Marymount University senior from Mercersburg, Pa., who was a member of the Saints’ Atlantic East Conference championship team this spring.

Off the field, Chepren has proven to be a natural leader who balances athletic excellence with a deep commitment to service. Chepren mentors youth at Woodbury Park in Arlington and organizes holiday support for hundreds of families, all while leading campus efforts to assist local hospitals and food banks.

She champions causes like Boldly Gold Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Morgan’s Message. On Thanksgiving, she prepares, serves and cleans up the community meal for over 300 residents at Woodbury Park. In December, she assists with the community’s Christmas tree delivery.

For all of that, Chepren recently was chosen as a member of the inaugural Allstate National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Good Works Team for the spring sports season.

“Being named to the team is an honor,” Chepren said. “It means so much to be recognized not just for what we do in competition, but for our impact in the community.”

The 20 team members are recognized for making a positive difference in communities across the country — demonstrating the extraordinary effect that community service can ignite.

This year, the program was expanded to honor both male and female student-athletes from all sports and divisions.

Two other metro-area college athletes also chosen to the Good Works Team were Tim Nicholson and Lilly Travieso from the George Washington University baseball and softball teams, respectively.

At Marymount, Chepren was a three-time Atlantic East All-Academic Team honoree and 2024 and 2025 all-conference selection for her play on the field. This season, the attack was a second-team all-conference selection. She led Marymount in assists with 49, scored 20 goals and was third in points with 69.

She helped the team to a program-best 17-3 record and earned an NCAA Division III tournament berth for the first time.

For her four-year career with the Saints, Chepren scored 101 goals, had 131 assists for 232 points, scored three game-winning goals and gathered 52 ground balls.

In 2022, Chepren was chosen as the Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year.

“Taylor exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete — demonstrating discipline, teamwork and dedication both on and off the field,” Marymount head lacrosse coach Kate Athing said.
