Someone called in a bomb threat to an elementary school in Arlington today.
Police were dispatched to Jamestown Elementary School around 2:15 p.m. for a report of an anonymous threat received by phone. The person making the threat was described as a “younger male.”
Officers, including a K-9 unit, searched the school on N. Delaware Street but reportedly found no threat.
Students continued with their classes “as normal,” according to a message sent to families by the school principal, below.
Dear Families,
We are writing to inform you of a non-credible bomb threat received at Jamestown this afternoon. Out of an abundance of caution, the Arlington County Police Department immediately responded, and after a thorough investigation by law enforcement personnel, no threat was found.
All students and staff are safe, and learning continues as normal. The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority, and Arlington Public Schools will always fully investigate any potential threat.
We always encourage our students and staff to be vigilant and proactive. Please contact us whenever you see or hear something suspicious concerning Arlington Public Schools. If you see something, say something.
