A man, 70, and a woman, 25, were arrested over the weekend after separate incidents involving knives along the same block of Columbia Pike.
Both incidents happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, the day after the Fourth of July.
Around 1:45 a.m., police were dispatched after a woman allegedly slashed the tire of a man she knows, before walking away. Police say she was soon located nearby and kicked an officer while being arrested.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-07050023, 1500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:47 a.m. on July 5, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect and the male victim, who are known to each other, were in the parking lot of a residential building when the suspect allegedly struck the victim’s vehicle tire with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast, and a responding officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of Columbia Pike and S. Ode Street with the assistance of Virginia State Police. The officers gave the suspect commands to stop which she disregarded and while the officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, she kicked an officer. The suspect was detained by the officers following a struggle. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered, and the suspect was [assessed] by medics at the scene. Once cleared, [The suspect], 25, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Destruction of Property, Obstruction of Justice, Public Intoxication and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
The second incident happened around 6:30 a.m. Saturday and involved a 70-year-old man who allegedly stabbed or slashed someone he knows while inside a residential building.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of narcotics, according to police.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-07050053, 1500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on July 5, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim and the suspect, who are known to each other were inside a residential building when they became engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a knife, causing a laceration. The suspect began to flee the scene but was located and detained by responding officers at the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. During a search incident to arrest, a knife and suspected narcotics were recovered. [The suspect], 70, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
Both incidents took place on the 1500 block of Columbia Pike, in the Foxcroft Heights neighborhood.
Also in the crime report, a Thursday morning traffic stop in the Long Branch Creek neighborhood yielded a large quantity of drugs, including fentanyl. From ACPD:
NARCOTICS VIOLATION, 2025-07030052, 2400 block of 26th Road S. At approximately 9:14 a.m. on July 3, an officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license. During a search of the vehicle prior to towing, officers recovered a distribution amount of suspected fentanyl pills and cocaine and over $10,000. [The suspect], 19, of Herndon, VA was arrested and charged with Distribution of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held without bond.
