Arlington County police are investigating a shooting in the Arna Valley neighborhood.
Police were dispatched to an apartment on the 2500 block of S. Adams Street shortly before 9:45 p.m. for a report of a man shot in the leg. Arriving officers reported that there were several people inside the apartment, who were cooperative as police started the investigation.
On social media, police described the victim’s injuries as non-life threatening. He was taken via ambulance to a local trauma center. There’s no word so far of any arrests, nor of any outstanding threat to the community.
On Friday morning the police department released a crime report describing the incident as “reckless handling of a firearm.”
RECKLESS HANDING OF A FIREARM, 2025-08140212, 2500 block of S. Adams Street. At approximately 9:42 p.m. on August 14, police and fire were dispatched to the report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located the injured adult male inside a residence. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During the course of the investigation, firearms were recovered from the residence. The investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is ongoing.
Arna Valley is located near the I-395/Glebe Road interchange, between the Shirlington and Pentagon City neighborhoods.
