A pair of notable crashes Sunday morning temporarily closed lanes and kept Arlington first responders busy.
The crashes happened amid preparation for, and then during, the 2025 Marine Corps Marathon, which closed numerous roads in other parts of the county.
The first happened around 2:15 a.m. on the 2700 block of S. Glebe Road, near the I-395 ramps. While the circumstances are unclear, a Chrysler sedan ended up on its roof in a grassy area near the Avalon apartment complex, across from the Tesla dealership.
No one was trapped in the car upon police arrival and no serious injuries were reported, though at least one person was checked out by medics.
The other crash happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Langston Blvd, Fairfax Drive and Washington Blvd in East Falls Church.
Three vehicles were damaged after a collision in which one vehicle appears to run a red light and strike another that was entering the intersection at the end of a yellow light, according to traffic camera footage posted by local public safety watcher Dave Statter.
No serious injuries were reported, according to Statter. The intersection was blocked for nearly an hour, according to Arlington Alert messages.
