An 18-year-old Arlington resident was arrested yesterday (Thursday) after allegedly firing a gun into a parked vehicle near Courthouse in late December.
The suspect is accused of firing “several shots” around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, near the intersection of 13th Street N. and N. Taft Street in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights neighborhood. Someone inside the car then returned fire and drove offf, according to police.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect walked towards a parked vehicle, discharged a firearm and ran from the scene,” the Arlington County Police Department said in a press release. “An occupant of the vehicle then allegedly discharged a firearm before driving away from the scene.”
No injuries were reported.
The suspect, who was arrested last night near where the shooting took place, has been released from jail on his own recognizance, according to court records.

[The suspect], 18, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Reckless Handling of a Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.
At approximately 12:42 p.m. on December 27, 2025, an officer conducting proactive patrols heard the sound of shots fired in the area. Additional responding officers recovered evidence confirming several shots had been fired at 13th Street N. and N. Taft Street. The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect walked towards a parked vehicle, discharged a firearm and ran from the scene. An occupant of the vehicle then allegedly discharged a firearm before driving away from the scene. No injuries were reported.
Detectives initiated a comprehensive criminal investigation which led to the identification of the suspect who approached the vehicle on foot. He was taken into custody in the 1200 block of N. Scott Street on the evening of February 19, 2026.
