Scooter rider seriously injured after collision with bus in Rosslyn

A young woman was left seriously injured after colliding with a bus while riding a scooter in Rosslyn.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Langston Blvd and Ft. Myer Drive. Traffic camera footage via SafetyVid shows the woman riding an electric scooter onto a crosswalk, with the light, while a tour bus makes a wide right turn.

Neither the rider nor the driver appear to see one another coming. Minutes later, people can be seen attending to the woman, who was bloodied and down in the middle of the crosswalk.

First responders arrived shortly thereafter and the woman was quickly loaded onto an ambulance and taken to a local trauma center.

“One adult female has been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries,” Arlington County police said on social media.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash. All lanes reopened by 8:45 p.m., according to an Arlington Alert.
