Portion of Pentagon Metro station still closed after person struck by train

The lower level of the Metro station at the Pentagon is closed after person was struck and killed by a train.

A person reportedly jumped in front of a train around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Passengers were evacuated off the train, power to the third rail was cut and the lower level of the station closed.

Rescuers from Arlington and other local fire departments responded and found the individual deceased under the train.

Since the incident, Blue and Yellow Line trains have been single tracking on the upper level of the Pentagon station.

“Customers will continue to experience delays in both directions,” Metro said via social media shortly after noon.
