Adults, seniors and kids can opt to run either a 1-mile race or a 5K. So far, according to the run’s website, the event has raised over $140,000.

Michael J. Fox, the actor known for his roles in “Back to the Future,” “Family Ties” and “Teen Wolf,” was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. He kept this under wraps for several years before launching The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000.

The foundation introduced its run/walk series in 2017, seeking to support people affected by Parkinson’s and raise funds to accelerate treatments and find a cure.

“These family-friendly events offer a day of activity, community and valuable information about Parkinson’s disease and local support resources,” the event’s website says. “Whether you’re living with Parkinson’s, supporting a loved one or simply seeking to learn more, our Run/Walk Series provides an opportunity to engage, raise awareness and make a difference.”
