The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell 5K, A Very Village Holiday winter market and The Lodge holiday festival are all happening on Saturday, and road closures begin on Friday evening.

The annual 9/11 Memorial 5K is returning to Arlington for its 23rd year this weekend, bringing road closures around the Pentagon and in Crystal City.

The Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff and ECC Memorial 5K is taking place on Saturday evening. The following road closures are scheduled, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

On Sunday, June 29, the Safety and Health Foundation’s second annual 5K Run/Walk for Refugees returns. The event aims to raise $5,000 for the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), a nonprofit that supports refugees as they begin new lives in the United States.

Wreaths honoring fallen service members are arriving at Arlington National Cemetery this weekend.

About 75 tractor-trailers loaded with handmade balsam wreaths will arrive in the county starting on Friday in preparation for the event expected to draw several thousand volunteers.

Tuckahoe Elementary art teacher Nicole ‘Nikki’ Reed passed away “quietly and peacefully” surrounded by family and friends last month after an eight-month battle against a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

“Friends and Family, this is a post that we knew would come eventually, but we all thought we had more time. Our valiant fighter, Nikki, has taken the path of peace,” Janet Doyle wrote on her friend’s CaringBridge blog last month.
