JUST IN: Woman dies in Lorcom Lane crash after apparent medical emergency

A woman has died after her vehicle veered off Lorcom Lane and struck a parked car in a driveway.

Mauricia Flores De Andrade, 61, of Burke, was alone in the vehicle, Arlington County police said. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The crash happened in the 3800 block of Lorcom Lane, on the border of the Cherrydale and Woodmont neighborhoods, shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

The victim was driving east when she apparently suffered a medical emergency and her vehicle left the road, according to a preliminary investigation. In addition to the parked car, the vehicle might have also struck a tree, according to initial reports.

“The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation and anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Detective C. Young at [email protected] or 703-228-4342,” said in ACPD press release. “Information may also be reported anonymously through the Arlington County Crime Solvers hotline at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).”

This was the second fatal crash in Arlington during the month of June. Earlier in the month, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman on Columbia Pike. Before that, the last fatal crash happened on S. Glebe Road in December, when a driver was killed after slamming into the side of a building at high speed.
