Arlington County police are investigating the second reported carjacking of the summer.
A woman was carjacked on 19th Street N. in the Colonial Village neighborhood just before 5 p.m. last night (Monday), according to ACPD. The suspect, a man in his 20s, allegedly approached the woman, made threats, and stole her keys and wallet before driving off.
The stolen car was described as a blue Volkswagen Tiguan. Multiple people called 911 to report the carjacking, according to scanner traffic.
After a months-long lull in carjackings, this was the second such incident in Arlington in as many months. A Maryland man was recently charged with a July 14 carjacking in Cherrydale, during which he allegedly pointed a gun and ordered a woman out of her car before driving off in it.

CARJACKING, 2026-08310147, 2100 block of 19th Street N. At approximately 4:56 p.m. on August 31, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was walking in the area when the suspect approached her from behind and attempted to engage her in conversation. The victim walked towards her vehicle and the suspect followed, made a threatening statement and demanded her keys. The suspect then stole the victim’s keys and wallet before entering her vehicle and fleeing the scene. The victim’s vehicle is described as a Volkswagen Tiguan with Virginia plates. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect with negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male in his late 20’s wearing a white tank top. The investigation is ongoing.
