Police used a Taser to subdue a man who allegedly advanced on an officer with a broken bottle outside a Clarendon business Saturday morning.
Officers were called to a reported assault in the 2700 block of Wilson Blvd around 11 a.m. They determined that a man had walked into the business, broken a glass bottle and begun waving it around, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
Police found him outside the business and gave him commands, which he ignored, ACPD said. He then moved toward one of the officers while holding the broken bottle.
Officers used a Taser and, with the help of another officer who responded to the scene, took him into custody.
A 47-year-old Arlington man was charged with attempted malicious wounding on police, destruction of property and disorderly conduct.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING ON POLICE, 2026-09190086, 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 11:00 a.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, allegedly broke a glass bottle and began waving it around. Responding officers located the suspect outside of the business and issued him commands which he ignored. The suspect advanced toward an officer with the broken glass bottle. Following the deployment of a taser and an additional responding officer to the scene, the suspect was taken into custody. [The suspect], 47, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding on Police, Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct.
Last month, a man was charged with assault on police after allegedly striking an officer working a nightlife detail a couple of blocks west, near Wilson Blvd and N. Fillmore Street.
