Crews found a small fire in the attic area and inside a wall on the second floor, according to scanner traffic. Firefighters opened skylights to vent smoke, and the fire was declared out around 5:45 p.m.
An ARLnow reader who spotted the fire said they called 911 around 5:15 p.m.
“A firefighter entered the house, came out yelling ‘fire!’ several times, and from what I could tell, the team entered the house with a hose and put it out from inside, while another team worked from the roof to allow smoke to escape,” said the reader, and who asked not to be named.
Washington Blvd was closed in both directions near N. Taylor Street during the response, according to scanner traffic.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
