A popular sushi restaurant in East Falls Church has ranked among the top 10 best places to eat in Northern Virginia.
Yume Sushi (2121 N. Westmoreland Street) claimed the No. 8 spot in Northern Virginia Magazine’s latest ranking of the best restaurants in the region.
The magazine highlighted the restaurant’s flavorful dishes such as the Crazy Monkey Roll, made with lavender-smoked salmon, cream cheese, mango tobiko, avocado and tempura bits. Another favorite is the garlic butter miso scallop, which “takes nigiri to the next level.”
“It features thin, delicately seared scallop slices that are deftly layered over mounds of rice and amplified by garlic butter miso, balsamic pearls, truffle wasabi, eel sauce, and truffle oil — an unexpectedly successful combination of textures and flavors,” Northern Virginia Magazine wrote.
The restaurant, located about half a mile from the East Falls Church Metro station, opened in late 2018 with offerings from award-winning sushi chef Saran Kannasute.
Chef’s picks at the establishment include the surf and turf (lobster wrapped with Wagyu beef, caviar and scallions), the Monkfish Tower (monkfish liver with Hokkaido uni, caviar, garlic ponzu and yuzu ice) and the moulard duck breast (served medium rare with garlic butter miso, balsamic pearls and pickled vegetables).
Yume Sushi is also ranked the No. 1 Japanese restaurant in Arlington in the ARLnow Reader’s Choice awards.
