An Arlington police officer who died of cancer related to 9/11 relief efforts is remembered for his intense work ethic, kind heart and playful sense of humor.

Family members and Arlington County Police Department personnel honored ACPD Cpl. Barry Foust at a funeral service yesterday (Tuesday). They shared memories of the 64-year-old who grew up tussling and competing with his four sisters on a dairy farm in rural Pennsylvania, and how he matured into a mentor and inspiration for generations officers across his 35 years of service at ACPD.

Tech firm relocating corporate HQ to Crystal City, bringing 450 jobs

An information technology company is relocating its headquarters from Bethesda to Crystal City, promising 450 more jobs.

Spatial Front is moving through a $6 million investment from the company, assisted by a $500,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s (D) office said a press release today. The Virginia Jobs Investment Program will provide funding and services to support employee training at the company.

A motorcyclist was hurled into the street following a collision with a vehicle on N. Glebe Road this afternoon.

The collision took place at Glebe and 4th Street N. around 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday), according to scanner chatter.

Construction begins on Crystal City project to convert office building into apartments

An office building in Crystal City has begun the process of transforming into a 195-unit multifamily building.

JBG Smith announced that construction has begun at 2200 Crystal Drive, an 11-story building that the Arlington County Board approved for conversion from offices to apartments in July 2025.

A suspect has been arrested over an alleged sexual attack in the stairwell of a Columbia Pike parking garage.

Police are seeking other possible victims as the suspect, a 25-year-old of “no fixed address,” faces charges of sexual battery and attempted object sexual penetration.

Cycling pros and enthusiasts will be hitting the streets of Arlington this weekend for the return of the Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic.

Sinkhole blocks road for days in Pentagon City

A sinkhole has been blocking a small stretch of road in Pentagon City for the last several days.

A portion of 13th Street S. between Costco and Metropolitan Park has been cordoned off since last week, with a traffic barrel sitting in the middle of the hole as of yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

Madison Community Center closes next month for a year of renovations

Madison Community Center will temporarily close beginning in June for a multimillion-dollar overhaul, expected to last for about a year.

The community center at 3829 N. Stafford Street will close on Monday, June 15. Planned upgrades including a new air conditioning system to replace window units, a new roof to address leaks and deterioration, a redesign of the lower level and new ceiling tiles and lighting, according to a county webpage.

An Arlington police officer who responded to the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon has died from cancer related to those recovery efforts.

The Arlington County Police Department honored Cpl. Barry Foust’s 35 years of service with the agency in a press release today (Tuesday). Foust, who was on patrol the day of the terrorist attack and helped launch Arlington County’s response, died Friday following a cancer diagnosis in June 2025.

Some Metro travelers are experiencing delays during their commutes this morning due to a downed tree near Arlington National Cemetery.

Shuttle service for the Blue Line is currently operating between Rosslyn and the Pentagon, and Metro is warning of delays on the Orange and Yellow lines in both directions due to train congestion, according to the most recent advisory.

Paid sick leave expands to all Virginia workers with support from Sen. Favola

All Virginia workers will be eligible for paid sick leave under new legislation backed by State Sen. Barbara Favola (D-40).

The new law, signed by Gov. Abigail Spanberger yesterday (Wednesday), requires employers to provide both full-time and part-time employees with up to five sick days per year beginning in July 2027. Workers accrue one hour for every 30 hours worked, and will be able to take time off for either mental or physical illness.
