Hundreds of demonstrators rallied with Arlington officials in Courthouse yesterday (Sunday) in protest of immigration enforcement killing a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis.

“I have dedicated 24 years of my life protecting Arlington because I believe law enforcement is supposed to protect the community by building trusting relationships,” Arlington Sheriff Jose Quiroz told the crowd gathered in Courthouse Plaza. “ICE is doing the opposite. The way they are operating does not keep us safe.”

Video: How Arlington National Cemetery’s expansion project advanced in 2025

Arlington National Cemetery’s southern expansion project continued to take shape in 2025, preparing the way for 80,000 additional spaces for graves and urns just north of Columbia Pike.

In a video update posted last week, the cemetery spotlighted a new parking garage and other buildings under construction in a forthcoming service complex, along with progress on improved pedestrian access to the Air Force Memorial and the realignment of a portion of Columbia Pike to accommodate the expansion.

Man sentenced for stealing NCIS vehicle and other cars from Reagan National

A Maryland man was sentenced yesterday (Tuesday) for stealing multiple vehicles from Reagan National Airport, including one belonging to a federal law enforcement agency.

Tyrese McKinnon, 25, was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for conspiring to steal five vehicles from Reagan National, and another vehicle from Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport.

JUST IN: New plan for Key Bridge Marriott site calls for 1,775 residential units and a hotel

Plans for five residential buildings and a new hotel have been filed at the vacant Key Bridge Marriott site in Rosslyn.

The proposed “Potomac Overlook” development at 1401 Langston Blvd, announced today (Tuesday), would include 1,775 residential units, a 200-room hotel and underground parking on the empty 5.5-acre lot overlooking the Potomac River.

Flu cases jump in Arlington, prompting calls for more vaccinations

As flu cases surge in Arlington, health leaders are encouraging residents to get vaccinated and practice healthy habits.

Hospitalizations for the flu surged by more than 50% in Arlington during the last week of 2025, according to Arlington Public Health. About 14% of all patients visiting emergency departments and urgent care clinics were diagnosed with the virus.

Projections on Washington Monument end tonight with fireworks display

Fireworks will be going off on the National Mall this evening (Monday) in celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday.

The fireworks display will culminate six nights of projections on the Washington Monument that have sought to turn the historic structure into “the world’s tallest birthday candle.”

Four teens arrested after break-ins, cash theft at several Pentagon City businesses

Four D.C. teenagers were arrested after a series of overnight break-ins at businesses in Pentagon City yesterday (Tuesday).

They’re accused of hitting a total of at least five businesses, stealing cash and electronics before being arrested while trespassing inside an apartment building on S. Eads Street, according to a press release from the Arlington County Police Department.

Fried chicken spot ‘Hot Lola’s’ closing in Rosslyn

A restaurant serving up spicy fried chicken is closing its doors in Rosslyn after three and a half years.

Hot Lola’s, which opened at 1501 Wilson Blvd in the summer of 2022, announced the closure in a social media post earlier this month. The initial plan was to close on New Year’s Eve, but the restaurant’s signage has already been taken down as of today (Tuesday).

New Year’s brings delays in Arlington trash pickup but extended Metro service

Waste collection will once again be pushed back in Arlington as various government offices close in honor of New Year’s Day this Thursday.

Thursday’s collection routes will be serviced on Friday, and Friday routes will be pushed back to Saturday this week. Parking meters also will not be enforced on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1).
