An SUV overturned as a result of a collision at the intersection of N. Randolph and 21st Streets Wednesday morning.
Neither the driver of the SUV nor the driver of the white sedan with which it collided were injured in the crash, which occurred around 9:00 a.m. The SUV ended up on its roof on N. Randolph Street, but traffic on the small, residential street was able to drive around the damaged cars.
A suspect is in custody after a hit-and-run accident near the Department of Motor Vehicles office on S. Four Mile Run Drive.
A witness told ARLnow.com that the driver of a Nissan was trying to turn into the DMV parking lot from the westbound lanes of Four Mile Run Drive when the car was struck by a truck heading eastbound.
A car flipped on its roof on the eastbound lanes of Lee Highway this afternoon, sending at least one person to the hospital.
The accident happened between N. Nash and Quinn Streets, near Rosslyn, around 3:30 p.m. today (Friday). The late model Toyota Corolla somehow overturned, coming to rest in the left-hand lane of the three-lane thoroughfare.
Arlington County Police responded to an accident at the Department of Motor Vehicles (4150 S. Four Mile Run Drive) today, after a car crashed into a fence.
Police say the driver was at the DMV to take a driving test. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., the driver somehow jumped a curb in the parking lot and smashed into the fence.
A police chase that started in D.C. ended with a wreck at a busy Crystal City intersection.
U.S. Park Police had chased the car from D.C. to Crystal City when, just before 8:30 p.m., it was broadsided by a Jeep at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and 23rd Street S. The fleeing vehicle slammed into a gas pump at the Exxon station at the southwest corner of the intersection. Three men ran from the car, with one dropping a gun on the ground in the process.
Police are investigating a four-vehicle crash in East Falls Church.
The crash happened around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Lee Highway and Sycamore Street. A witness told ARLnow.com that the accident was caused when one of the drivers tried to make an ill-advised U-turn. Police on the scene tell us he’s being charged with reckless driving.
A tractor trailer became stuck on Chain Bridge this afternoon after attempting an ill-advised U-turn.
The driver of the truck apparently tried to make a U-turn at Chain Bridge and Canal Road NW, across the Potomac River from Arlington, but became stuck and in the process pierced the truck’s fuel tank on a rail at the northwest corner of the intersection.
(Updated at 11:30 a.m.) All lanes of N. Glebe Road were closed in the area of 16th Street, just north of Ballston, due to a moped accident.
Initial reports suggest that the victim crashed his moped after hitting the curb. Medics tended to the victim, who was reported to be unconscious.
The driver of an Arlington Transit bus has been cited for a crash involving an ambulance this morning.
The ambulance, which had its lights and sirens on, slammed into the bus, causing the bus to roll into a small ditch adjacent to the W&OD bike trail.
Up to three people were reported hurt in the wreck, but no serious injuries were reported.
As of 5:05 p.m., at least one of the vehicles had been towed away and four lanes of traffic were getting by the scene, with only the far righthand lane blocked.
(Updated at 5:15 p.m.) An Arlington Transit bus suffered an apparent brake malfunction and rolled down a steep hill on N. Barton Street this morning, coming to a stop half-way down the hill after it ran into a car.
The crash closed N. Barton Street between Fairfax Drive and 14th Street N. in the Courthouse area for more than an hour, as a heavy-duty tow truck was brought in to haul away the bus.
Update at 1:05 p.m. — The eastbound lanes of Route 50 have reopened after the earlier wreck involving a sewage tanker. According to Arlington County, the sewage that leaked from the tanker into a storm drain will enter Four Mile Run south of I-395, via the Lower Long Branch stream. Parks and streams north of I-395, including Jennie Dean Park in Shirlington and Barcroft Park, will not be impacted by the sewage spill, the county said.
Earlier: Eastbound Route 50 is closed in the area of Fillmore Street due to a serious accident involving a sewage truck.
