Kusshi is now serving sushi in Pentagon City.
The Bethesda-based Japanese restaurant finally opened its doors last week at Westpost, next to Mimi’s Handmade Ice Cream. Employees tell ARLnow that Kusshi is in the midst of its soft opening with a “grand opening” set for later this month.
Salad purveyor Chopt is planning to open its new “eco-conscious” location in Ballston next week.
The chain said in a press release this morning that its shop at 4201 Wilson Blvd, in the Ballston Exchange complex across from Ballston Quarter, will officially open on Wednesday, July 13. We first reported on the new location, which is next to a Shake Shack, in November.

The relocation of Papa John’s Pizza on Columbia Pike has left hungry customers confused.
Last month, a new Papa John’s location opened just off the Pike at 1014 S. Glebe Road. It moved into the former home of the donut shop Sugar Shack, the closing of which left a proverbial hole in the center of some local residents’ hearts.

A poster from leasing company A.J. Dwoskin & Associates that states Crumbl Cookies is “coming soon” has been seen on a window at the shopping center, next to the Wild Birds Unlimited store. The kebab-centric Tawle, which means “table” in Arabic, is moving into 2832 Wilson Blvd, the former home of live music venue IOTA Club. The new casual concept plus rooftop bar is from the co-owners of D.C.’s Compass Rose and Maydan, the latter of which is Michelin-starred.

Japanese restaurant Yuraku opened about two weeks ago for lunch and dinner, manager Mike Kim tells ARLnow, at 1850 Fort Myer Drive. That’s the long-vacant ground floor commercial space inside of the Turnberry Tower condo building a few blocks from the Rosslyn Metro station.
Our Mom Eugenia, a popular Great Falls-based Greek restaurant, is opening a new outpost in Shirlington.
The family-owned Greek eatery is aiming to open by the fall, a press release announced. It’s moving into the 3,604 square-foot space at 4044 Campbell Avenue, next to CHIKO which opened late last year.
Hawkers, the Asian street food restaurant chain, is now aiming for a mid-August opening in Ballston.
The eatery was initially supposed to open back in spring 2021 and, then, June of this year, but supply chain issues have delayed it now twice, the company says.
