Falls Church officials are considering whether to allow public safety aides to issue parking tickets, direct traffic and respond to abandoned vehicles.
Under current Falls Church city code, only sworn law enforcement officers have the ability to conduct parking and traffic control.
Lower speed limits could be coming to some Arlington roads with high numbers of bicyclists.
A proposal going before the Arlington County Board on Saturday, July 19 would reduce speed limits on some designated “bicycle boulevards” from 25 mph to 20 mph.
Additional enforcement options for automated speed cameras could be on the Falls Church City Council’s wish list for the 2026 General Assembly.
“We have talked about this and talked about this,” City Council member Laura Downs said of expanding the speed-camera program.
