The county-run Arlington Virginia Network has produced a short video that takes a look back at some of the county’s major initiatives, accomplishments and accolades in 2011.
The video recalls the Columbia Pike charrettes, the 100 Homes Initiative, and the opening of Long Bridge Park, among other memorable moments from the past year.

How shocking: the ArtisFail and Columbia Pike Trolley Folley $100M cost overrun didn’t make the highlights.
Looks like a tough-guys-walking-in-slow-motion-and-sunglasses scene.

No, looks like a serious waste of taxpayer dollars to fund crap like video productions.
I would be interested in hearing an example in which the county responded and changed their course of action due to a negative reaction from the community. I’m honestly curious. Does anyone know of one?
Yeah. Installment of sidewalks in Penrose.
I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks. I’d be interested to read about that. Is it on ARLnow.com?
There was also this situation.
Hopefully this was paid for w/ campaign funds. Absurd.
How about a homeless shelter charrette with the community? Sometimes it seems that community participation is only sought if there is no immediate decision that is required. I’m all in favor of charrettes, but find their selective use curious.
Arlington takes self congratulations to a whole new level.
