Jimmy John’s in Clarendon appears to have closed, possibly for good

The Jimmy John’s in Clarendon appears to have closed, perhaps for good.

Situated at 1138 N. Irving Street, around the corner from O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub, the fast-casual sandwich chain first opened in 2014 underneath The Beacon Clarendon apartment complex.

Last week, ARLnow received several tips via email indicating that the sub shop had suddenly closed without warning.

Upon visiting the site, we found the windows covered with brown paper and a “closed” sign, scrawled in black pen on composition paper, adorning the front entrance.

A worker renovating the space next door, soon to be occupied by a chiropractor business, told ARLnow that the restaurant had permanently shut down. Additionally, a resident of The Beacon mentioned that a Jimmy John’s employee told him about seeking new employment because the restaurant was closing.

Inspire Brands, the Georgia-based parent company of Jimmy John’s, has not responded to requests for comment.

Jimmy John’s joins a handful of other restaurant closures in Clarendon over the past year. Destinations such as Pamplona, Bar Ivy, Le Pain Quotidien, Cava Mezze, Chicken + Whiskey and The Pinemoor have departed, though at least some are set to be replaced later this year.
