Via the scanner, we hear that the Arlington Fire Department is working on freeing three people from a stuck elevator at the Rosslyn Metro station.

Firefighters are currently trying to determine where the elevator car is within the long elevator shaft.

Update at 3:30 p.m. — TBD reports that the three passengers were freed by firefighters after spending about 20 minutes stuck inside the elevator.

Isn’t the shaft of the elevator in the Rosslyn station mostly clear plexiglass ??

That’s nothing. I was stuck in a metro elevator (12 people in those tiny ones) for 45 minutes once.

Wasn’t it just last week that it was reported that 5 out of the 10 elevators in Arlington County’s Metro stops were broken down? This makes me think about the people with disabilities who rely on them.

Let me tell you, yesterday was some kind of strange day at the Rosslyn Metro station. Upon approaching the upgoing escalator around 4pm, I witnessed a large metal suitcase hurtling down the escalator steps at a terrifying velocity heading directly toward the people who had just mounted the escalator. It was seriously terrifying, and someone would have surely been killed or injured had bystanders not yelled GET OUT OF THE WAY!!! I did not stay for what I imagine was an angry confrontation at the top of the escalator with the idiot owner of the runaway suitcase. Thank God being killed by flying luggage in Rosslyn was not the end of me.
