Tickets go on sale today for the 24th annual Taste of Arlington.

The ever-popular event will be little-changed from years prior. It will be held on Wilson Boulevard, in front of Ballston Common Mall. There will be food from 40 Arlington restaurants, beer and wine, arts and crafts, children’s activities and live entertainment.

About 12,000 people are expected to attend.

The event will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. Admission is free but tickets are required to sample the food and drinks.

Eight advance tickets purchased online cost $20, versus $25 on the day of the event. Food samples cost one ticket, while beer and wine cost two.

Proceeds from the event will benefit several local charities and non-profits.

“This event will be little changed from prior years?” It was the worst experience of my life last year – 20 minute lines to every food booth – I couldn’t even use all my tickets, crowds that couldn’t flow due to bad placement of the beer truck. Never again – kids in strollers everywhere screaming since there was no place to move to? This event needs a real facelift and more space. Save your money for Clarendon day – yes, that is crowded, but at least you can move around and get fed.

Agree. It’s too crowded (not enough space to move around) and the lines are too long.

I went right at noon last year and quickly spent all my tickets, no lines, it was perfect. If you wait you will pay.

It looks really crowded in the photo…

Last year was the last time for me. BAD experience!

Agreed. The layout for this event is horrible and the median in Wilson doesn’t help things. I wish that they would move more booths further down Stuart and take advantage of some of the space in the Welburn park.

I’m with you that it would be so much better if they expanded the space somehow. However, it’s tough to do that in that area because the side streets (Taylor, Stuart, Randolph) have parking garages/apartment buildings, etc., so they can’t just close them off as easily as that stretch of Wilson.

I enjoy the concept, but given the crowds and the fact that it is in May, it has been hot and unpleasant both times I’ve gone. If I go again, it’ll be right at the beginning!

Never been, and judging by that photo, looks like I never will.
