(Updated on 6/20/11) Crystal City’s outdoor film festival, Crystal Screen, will return in just a month and a half.

This year’s theme for the festival is “By The Numbers” — movies that include numbers in the title. Twelve movies will be shown on Monday nights, from June 6 to August 29.

See if you can guess all 12 (see the list after the jump). Hint: Organizers decided Se7en was too gory.

The movies will be shown in the grassy courtyard at 1800 S. Bell Street, one block from the Crystal City Metro station, weather-permitting. Last year’s theme was “Star Trek.”

  • Henry Spencer

I’m glad they diversified the selection; if you weren’t a Star Trek fan, you were SOL last year.

    • LBSki

Yes, I was trying to figure out how Star Trek qualifies as a theme.

  • ChrisG

Same with Super Heros or James Bond the previous years.

  • R.Griffon

What, no 28 Days Later? For SHAME!

    • MC 703

      Favorite apocalyptic zombie movie

  • OX4

Hey ARLNow — Just an FYI. You say “after the jump” in some posts, but in Google Reader at least, the entire post is always visible.

    • Understood. I recommend not using Google Reader.

      • OX4 or Oxymoron! You just got served!

      • OX4

      • Pink Eye

  • YTK

    The list is SO snorish……Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………

  • YTK

Haha I had a friend who used to call it “2001: A Space Audacity”

  • CrystalMikey

I loved the Bond festival…haven’t been to any since.

  • Cool

Sounds fun! I hated the Bond festival. Bond is fun as an action flick but terrible on women. Not so family-friendly either. Rosslyn did a Bond theme that year too, hopefully they’re coordinating better now. Glad they got a better idea this year.

  • No Multipass = fail.

    • FrenchyB

      • Ali

        +many, many more

  • Brandon C

The first movie is Air Force One. “GET OFF MY PLANE!” Awesome.

PS: I hope they put this up on Facebook somehow – it’s easy to keep track of it week to week.

    • CrystalMikey

I believe if you fan “Crystal City BID”, you’ll get the updates.

  • 16 Candles… I just love Long Duk Dong. Donger need food!

  • Burger

Not that I care but how was SE7EN considered too gory when compared to District 9.

I liked District 9 but it also has some pretty gory parts.

  • Mike

Here’s the Rosslyn Film Fest schedule as well, their theme is “SNL in the Movies” and i like it! http://www.rosslynva.org/play/calendar/film-festival

    • South Arlington

It’s a travesty that out of all these SNL veterans’ movies, they left off Norm Macdonald’s classic Dirty Work.

      • MC 703

So there you are, tubby. Look like a bucket of lard on a bad day. You baby gorilla. Why don’t you work in a zoo, and stop bothering people? Got a call yesterday from Baskin Robbins. They said that they’re down to only five flavors. You’re swelling up as I talk to you.

        • South Arlington

You fellas have a lot of growing up to do, I’ll tell you that. Ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. Can you believe these characters? Way out of line. Way out of line. Have a good mind to go to the warden about this. You know what hurts the most is the… the lack of respect. You know? That’s what hurts the most. Except for the… Except for the other thing. That hurts the most. But the lack of respect hurts the second most.

          • Rick

            Hey Mildred! Mildred!

  • dee

First time . . so what time do I show up?

  • Mary

The schedule listed here is incorrect – on the postcard they sent last week they listed the following schedule:

    6.06.2011 Air Force One
6.13.2011 Four Weddings and a Funeral
    6.20.2011 16 Candles
    6.27.2011 District 9
    7.04.2011 NO MOVIE
    7.11.2011 50 First Dates
    7.18.2011 Oceans 11
    7.25.2011 Apollo 13
    8.01.2011 The Sixth Sense
    8.08.2011 40 Year Old Virgin
    8.15.2011 10 Things I Hate About You
    8.22.2011 (500) Days of Summer
    8.29.2011 2001: A Space Odyssey

The postcard just puts the time as between 7pm – 11pm, though I think the movies at this time at year start after 8 since that’s when it gets dark.
