Traffic lights are dark and homes and businesses are without electricity in the Rosslyn and Courthouse area this evening.

As of 5:00 p.m., Dominion was reporting more than 1,200 customers without power in Arlington. Rhodeside Grill tells ARLnow.com that they’re among the businesses without power in the area.

Traffic lights have been reported to be out at at the intersections of Lee Highway and Ft. Myer Drive, Wilson/Clarendon Boulevards and Rhodes Street; Wilson/Clarendon Boulevards and Veitch Street, Wilson Boulevard and Pierce Street, and Lee Highway and Lynn Street. Drivers should treat non-functioning traffic lights as a four-way stop.

The outage is expected to last at least an hour, according to an alert from Arlington’s Office of Emergency Management.

What else is new… What’s up with all the power outages in Arlington? I’ve had like 10 in my condo within the past two years. I’ve lived in several different parts of the country (big and small cities), and abroad, and I’ve never experienced such a high rate of outages.

I’ve lived in Arlington 14 years and my electricty has NEVER gone out.

Yeah, my power rarely goes out in S. Arl.

Sorry for your luck. Like other posters here, i’ve been in a’ton for 8+ years and hurricaine isabelle aside, power outages have been minimal.

I agree with G. Power goes out in Clarendon on what seems like a monthly basis.

I actually live down near Shirlington, but I read about outages in various neighborhoods at least a few times a month.

I bet Key Bridge is a happy place right now.

    Power’s back!

People on Lee Highway westbound were not treating the intersection with Fort Myer Drive like a 4 way stop. I nearly got hit twice going across (traffic cops were on every intersection but this one) because 8 people decided to blow though without looking.
