Work is wrapping up on the new Clarendon location of Cava Restaurant.

The upscale Greek eatery, located on the 2900 block of Clarendon Boulevard, is about two weeks away from opening, says owner Ted Xenohristos. There are only “a few small things” that need to be completed before it can open its doors to customers, he said.

This will be Cava’s third location and its first Virginia outpost.

Looks nice. Hope things go well for them. Gettin pretty fancy around here!

    • Clarendude

It does look nice. Very warm and natural.

Will they bring back the tradition of an outdoor lamb roast like Aegean Taverna?

What is upscale greek? Eating gyros with a fork and knife? Heresy!

Upscale Greek is like upscale anything…make the portions smaller, prices higher, deconstruct the dishes, and replace substance with drizzlings of fancy multicolored sauces. Also, be sure to sell them as “small plates”, because you can charge more for them than for full-sized plates, strangely.

But if you don’t like upscale Greek food, you can always MOVE! 🙂

True, true, true, true, and true. However, they’re still rather tasty!

    Cava is awesome…I can’t wait!

This place is going to make such a killing it’ll be insane. Super reasonable for what it is, trendy atmosphere, decent food. The original location in Rockville crushes it, and they’re buried in a strip mall way out by UMD-Shady Grove.

    YAY! Cava is AWESOME.

The Cava on Barracks Row is very successful. This one in Clarendon is going to be absolutely packed. I highly doubt it will be possible to even get a table there during peak times. This is going to be a blockbuster draw for Clarendon, even though we already get quite a big crowd. This is going to be HUGE….
