Herman Cain to Sign Books at Pentagon City Costco

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, who’s tied for first among a crowded GOP field in a new CBS News poll, is scheduled to appear at a book signing in Pentagon City later this week.

The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO will sign copies of his new memoir, This Is Herman Cain!, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Pentagon City Costco (1200 S. Fern Street), according to the Costco web site. Following the book signing, Cain is scheduled to attend the Value Voters Summit in D.C.

The Pentagon City Costco is no stranger to book signings by high profile political figures. Condoleezza Rice and Laura Bush both held signings at the store last year.

    Godfather’s Pizza for America!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • bobco85

Every time I hear Herman Cain’s name, I get hungry because I start thinking about pizza. And when he spoke about his 9-9-9 plan? (stomach growling)

If he makes a single-payer system for pizza, he’ll be president in a landslide!

      • SomeGuy

“single-payer system for pizza”: Is that code for a system that forces me to pay in so that others are enabled to consume as much pizza as they want for free on my dime?

        • bobco85

          [patriotic music playing]

I think all people have the right to be able to have pizza. For too long, pizza corporations have denied pizza to people who cannot afford it, or to people with pre-existing conditions (like “Cash only”).

Would you deny a slice of cheesy freedom to a drunk person, suffering from the munchies, who spent all of their cash on a taxi coming back from a bar and can’t afford a jumbo slice?

          • Hope

LOVE this. You just made my morning 🙂

  • jack

Wonder who named his book? Guess This is Herman Cain is better than the generic pseudo-patriotic titles he could have chosen. At least no one will think Rick Perry wrote it, for example.

    • jack

Oops, forgot the exclamation point on the title! Can’t forget that. I’m sure his publisher went back and forth on that:

“Do we need the exclamation point?”

“Did you know who Herman Cain was last year?”

      “…Okay, use the exclamation point.”

  • Scott

I wonder if he was originally scheduled to sign books at Borders…

    • Smoke_Jaguar4

I miss Borders. I used to walk to the one in Pentagon City all the time, buy some coffee, grab a magazine, and get a connection. Come to think about it, they should have just gotten rid of the books and kept the Seattle’s Best and the magazine rack.
On Herman Cain; good luck to him on his campaign but he’s just the flavor-of-the-week. Given this COSTCO’s location in Deep Blue Arlington, I’d like so see how many books he actually sells here.

  • LVGuy

I hope he brings his birth certificate with him.

  • KalashniKEV

I’d like to get his autograph on my loyalty oath…

  • DarkHeart

    Costco Pizza > Godfather’s

  • Narlington

I guess he could have titled his book “if you ain’t rich its you own fault”

  • DarkHeart

Any reason GOP does book signings at Costco?

    • jack

Because you can’t by a rifle at Barnes and Noble?

      • KalashniKEV

Learn how to spell and get a clue about American freedom.

        • PikerShorts

My money is on a fat-fingered typo. Deriding typos on a comment thread is derisive.

          • KalashniKEV

It was an ignorant comment- my money is on person-of-low-intelligence.

          • PikerShorts

As a rule, people who disagree with you have a lower IQ than you?

          • duh!

no, but they carry less firearms

          • KalashniKEV

See his comments below. He is intellectually challenged.

          • LVGuy

I thought they carried fewer firearms?

        • JCC

I thought he was being sardonic. Didn’t bother me and I’m a gun-owning outdoorsman. Get a grip guys.

      • Sigh….

      • Mitzy

Sigh Jack… Sigh. You’re making all the neocons despair.

    • bredmond

Because Cosco is in the business to sell books! The store doesn’t care much who comes by to SELL books. I guess that the Dems books aren’t good sellers or their PR people think that the Dupont crowd will draw more positive media attention.

  • jack

Aww, did I insult you somehow by making the generalization that conservatives tend to like guns? Did I somehow imply they should be taken away? Was that the underlying subtext you discovered? Or does any mention of guns make you bristle? Sorry for the typo. “American freedom! Wooooo!”

    • I doubt you insulted him any worse than you insult yourself with your blind political rant on guns in a book signing thread.

      • Josh S

I believe steve85 is infecting other posters on this site.

        “blind political rant”

Uh, where? When? By making a joke about conservatives, guns, and Costco? OK, maybe it wasn’t the funniest joke, but “blind political rant?” No.

    • KalashniKEV

Jack, I’m in no way insulted or “bristling…” it’s just always disappointing to read such foolish comments. It’s unfortunate that you think gun ownership is a Democrat or Republican thing.

For the record, Cain just doesn’t get it on guns. He has come out in favor of each state passing their own CCW laws. CCW is not a State’s Rights issue. Y’know… “keep and BEAR” arms… “shall NOT be infringed” and all that constitutional stuff.

      “American freedom! Wooooo!” indeed.

      • MC 703

      • So special! +.38!

      • duh!

and all that “well regulated militia” stuff you conveniently ignore

        • KalashniKEV

Militia- able-bodied male citizens of at least 17 and under 45.

          • LVGuy

okay. Now you’re just making stuff up.

          • KalashniKEV

It’s all spelled out very plainly in 10 USC. I don’t know why some people make reference to “cryptic wording” and always seem so confused.

          • LVGuy

I’ll admit it, I have no idea what you’re talking about but assume it’s legit since you’re so excited about killing people (personal protection?). In that sense, though, it’s probably a law, not an American freedom outlined in the Bill of Rights.

          • duh!

Title 10 of the United States Code outlines the role of armed forces -that’s where he is taking his definition of the militia. Convenient except it excludes the disabled, non citizens, and people over 45. Not sure your local branch of the NRA would agree with you on that!

          • duh!

so nobody over 45 can legally own a gun then?

      • LVGuy

Seems like you’re the challenged one. Democrat isn’t an adjective, it’s a noun. The correct phrasing is “It’s unfortunate that you think gun ownership is a Democratic or Republican thing.”

It’s things like this that make me keep calling them tea-baggers.

        • KalashniKEV

I still call it the Democrat Party. You can call me a bagger, it’s OK.

          • KalashniKEV

It also makes grammatical sense in the way that I used it.

          • Hunsaker

I used to say Democrat instead of Democratic, but chose to opt for grammar over style. Nonetheless, the party that is made up of Democrats is very disconnected from what it used to be about, but its membership prefers to use the term Democratic as if it’s interchangeable with democracy. It’s not.

          • LVGuy

You, sir, make absolutely no sense.

          • Ted34

OK, “Democratic” means pertaining to the D-party, and “democratic” means pertaining to democracy. Just like “Republican” means pertaining to the R-party and “republican” means re. a republic. Not that hard.

          • LVGuy

yes, I understand that notion from 11th grade history. I’m just confused about how the Democratic Party, to which the current President belongs, is not democratic considering how all their elected officials were elected democratically.

          • LVGuy

There’s no such thing as the Democrat Party.

      • Josh S

        Kev –

You can capitalize, underline, highlight, italicize all you want. There are no ABSOLUTE rights in the Constitution.

Judging by your body of work here, I would think you a staunch defender of state’s rights over expanding federal power. If Congress isn’t stepping up to establish nationwide concealed weapon laws and a state wants to make their laws clear, why shouldn’t they?

  • westcoastgirl

i know we have an over abundance of pizza in Clarendon, but as far as chains go, i wouldn’t mind a Godfather’s pizza. I’d love a Round Table’s pizz,. and i kill for a Zachary’s pizza (not a chain but seriously can we get some deep dish pizza here)

  • Paco

Cain also worked for Burger King. So having been a senior executive in a kingdom, he does have foreign policy experience.

    • BF

could he see Russia from his castle?

  • Concerned that a presidential candidate is trying to promote a book deal during the start of an election campaign. He has a lot to offer. But, is he trying to cash in early or is he really there for the long run. Looks bad and I wish he was not promoting a book deal at this point. Looks greedy.

  • Smartass D-Bag

Given his last name, I wonder if you could get him to sign it, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

    • CW

Try it, and let me know if you are Abel.

  • Hunsaker

Most of the rubes in Arlington are too naive and intimidated by black men to go meet Herman Cain, so instead they pretend to be Jon Stewart-esque dilettantes on ARLNow. Just think folks, this is the absolute apex of all your intellectual endeavors.

    • Smartass D-Bag

Apparently, you need to look up the word “dilettante.”

  • JMB

Rumor has it that if you have to wait longer than 30 minutes to get your book signed, you get it for free!
