A new French-Vietnamese style restaurant called Lotus Grill and Noodles is coming to Shirlington.

The restaurant, which currently under construction in a 2,100 square foot space next to Extra Virgin restaurant, will feature Vietnamese specialties like phở, crispy spring rolls, grilled pork rolls, and other lunch and dinner items.

Building permits for the 40-seat restaurant were issued in March. A liquor license application indicates the restaurant will serve beer and wine.

Damn you! That’s what I want to name my Pho place. Pho King Great Soup.

I always wanted to open a pho place on Q Street in DC. I just wanted to answer the phone, “Good afternoon, Pho Q.”

          well played.

I ate too much soup and it gave me a pho cough.

A cover used to keep soup warm is a pho cover.

If you want just a little soup, order a pho cup.

A nice gift is a bag of dried ingredients to make your own soup, called a pho kit.

The Vietnamese place that was in the space Bus Boys has grown into was really good and I’ve missed it. Hope this place is as good or better.

A big Mel Gibson HOORAY for walking distance pho.

I agree. Saigonique (?) was a great restaurant. I was really surprised and sad when it closed. I hope this new one will succeed.

I liked it, too. I was there about a week before it abruptly shut down, though, and it was clear they had issues. “No we’re out of that.” Ok how about…”wait let me check.” Yelling ensues in the back.
Server wouldn’t leave table. Owner (dad?) yells at him. It was dysfunctional.

That Pho looks delicious, even if it is 80 degrees outside.

I kinda hope it is not too expensive, it would be nice to have a near by, rationally priced, Vietnamese place.

I hope this place serves the eye of round steak to us round eyes rare.

I love when a pho place does that so you can cook it at your leisure in the broth.

Why don’t they have shabu shabu in the US? Other than me hating seafood (other than shrimp) that would be a great addition.

I’ll admit that I had to Google that to see what it was. And it does sound good! 🙂

Pho bars seem to have been spreading away from Eden Center since that police raid a while ago.

this place, along with forthcoming Cafe Pizziaolo and the Medi joint, have been under construction since the Mezozoic era. any rough opeing dates? i can eat only some many quesadillas from Guapos (they’re awesome btw).

  • nom de guerre

or you could open it anywhere and call it Wat Da Pho.

  • AL

When the hell is this place going to open? I’m starving!
