“A home was reduced in price by $1,000, why should I care?” It’s a common question we’ve received during the six-plus years of this column.

The simple answer is this: It signals flexibility and potential negotiation ahead.

With so many reduced properties, a small publicized price reduction may only be the beginning. So many times we’ve seen a $1,000 reduction turn into a $5,000, $10,000 and even $100,000 cut in price down the line. But, you have to be able to negotiate further.
