The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. Monday on the 4600 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive.

“Police were dispatched to the report of a person with a gun,” ACPD said in a crime report. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking to his vehicle outside of a residential building when the male suspect, who is known to him, approached and a verbal dispute ensued.”

“The suspect then brandished a firearm and struck the victim with it before a struggle over the firearm occurred, the report continues. “A witness called police and the suspect subsequently fled the scene in a vehicle.”

The victim reportedly suffered a large wound to the back of the head. The injuries were deemed non-life threatening and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results,” said ACPD. “Warrants for the suspect were obtained for Malicious Wounding, Brandishing and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. The investigation is ongoing.”

Around the same time, another police incident involving a weapon played out in the Penrose neighborhood, north of Columbia Pike.

According to scanner traffic, a man was arrested at police gunpoint along S. Courthouse Road after he threatened passengers with a knife on an ART bus.
