A man was shot and critically injured in a hotel parking lot in Courthouse early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. on the 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road, according to Arlington County police, and as of Sunday afternoon the victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
The shooting happened as a result of a dispute between two groups of people, police said.
Despite a quick police response — the scene is just a couple of blocks from ACPD headquarters — the suspect fled and remains at large. The victim, meanwhile, arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle.

The Arlington County Police Department’s Homicide/Robbery Unit is investigating a shooting that took place on N. Courthouse Road in the early morning hours of May 19.
At approximately 2:50 a.m., police responded to multiple reports of shots heard in the area. The preliminary investigation indicates two groups became engaged in a verbal dispute in the parking lot of a hotel in the 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road. During the dispute, the suspect brandished and discharged a firearm, striking the victim and two parked vehicles. The adult male victim self-transported to an area hospital and remains in critical condition.
The suspect is described as a Black male wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie. He fled the scene prior to police arrival.
This remains an active criminal investigation.
