Stronger pedestrian and bike safety measures proposed for busy Rosslyn road

Bicyclist and pedestrian safety upgrades are slated to come to a portion of N. Lynn Street in Rosslyn.

People have until Wednesday, June 5 to submit feedback on a resurfacing project focused on Lynn between 17th and 19th streets.

Proposed changes include replacing a vehicle lane with a protected bike lane, adding several curb extensions and converting the separated through/left lane on Lynn at the Wilson Blvd intersection to left turn only.

Community feedback on the current state of the road includes numerous complaints about blocked bike lanes and dangerous driving that endangers pedestrians and cyclists.

Current feedback on the proposed design, meanwhile, is largely positive, with some commenters calling for stronger bike lane protection and better solutions to illegal double parking.

A final design for the intersection is expected this summer, while resurfacing and re-striping work should start soon thereafter, through the fall. A more precise construction schedule is set to be shared later this year.
