Two local chefs will compare “giant meat sticks” this weekend.
Chefs from ChiKo and Taco Bamba will battle in a “fried faceoff” to determine whose oversized eggroll reigns supreme. The event, dubbed “Meat in the Street,” will be held at The Village at Shirlington during the day on Sunday, June 9.
For $25, patrons can dine on meat-filled eggrolls crafted by each chef, as well as a cocktail pairing.
Led by chef Victor Albisu, Taco Bamba will offer “The Jeffrey,” which features carne asada, chorizo, chihuahua cheese and more — including a “bit of this, bit of that.”
The restaurant will also offer a margarita that includes orange-scented agave.
ChiKo, led by chef Scott Drewno, will offer the “Giant Egg Roll,” which contains Hainanese chicken, aromatic rice and aji amarillo aioli.
To drink, the restaurant concocted the “Spicy Mango Smash,” featuring a chili-infused soju and other ingredients.
Patrons can begin at either restaurant’s location at The Village at Shirlington, and will receive a voucher redeemable at the other restaurant for the second half of the menu.
The event is being held on a first-come, first-served basis.
