An Indian restaurant operating out of John Lyon VFW Post 3150 in Colonial Village has abruptly left the space.
A sign on the door of the post said that Sundara Indian Restaurant & Cafe is moving to a new spot at 1320 Braddock Place, near the Braddock Road Metro station, in Alexandria.
The well-reviewed restaurant at 2116 19th Street N., north of Courthouse, had been under investigation after the county received a zoning complaint late last year, according to Arlington’s permit portal.
Sundara, which had been approved to operate out of the post’s kitchen as a catering company, was accused of violating their certificate of occupancy by also operating a take-out restaurant, the portal said.
The restaurant offered traditional Indian options like biryani, masalas, curries and tikkas.
An email sent to the restaurant was unanswered by publication time. No opening date for the Alexandria location is publicly available.
