UPDATED: Metro train traffic disrupted by police chase at Rosslyn station

Metro service has been disrupted at the Rosslyn Metro station due to a fleeing shoplifting suspect.

The suspect reportedly stole from the CVS on the 1700 block of N. Pierce Street around 10:30 a.m. and was spotted fleeing with merchandise in the Metro station. After a foot chase on the station’s escalators, the suspect fled into a tunnel in the direction of Foggy Bottom, according to scanner traffic.

“Police emptied eastbound Orange train… seem to be looking for someone who ran into the tunnel.,” one tipster told ARLnow.

Metro says passengers should “expect delays in both directions” on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines.

As of 12:15 p.m. the incident was ongoing and train traffic halted, according to Metro. Shuttle buses are being arranged to serve customers, who are being encouraged to take Metrobus in the meantime.

As of 12:45 p.m. the incident was resolved and normal train service resumed, with some residual delays.
