A fire in a small strip mall has blocked Glebe Road during the morning rush hour.
Firefighters were dispatched to a restaurant at 71 N. Glebe Road around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a business on fire. They found smoke coming from below the roof, fire in the basement and a hole in the floor, according to scanner traffic.
A second alarm was sounded and the fire was reported to be under control by 7 a.m.
As of 8:15 a.m., N. Glebe Road remained blocked by the emergency activity just north of Route 50. All but one lane was back open as of 9:30 a.m.
FINAL: Fire is out. Office of the Fire Marshall is on scene conducting the origin and cause investigation. No injuries reported. Units are clearing the scene as they pick up equipment.
