ACPD: Man arrested after pulling gun on tow truck driver

A Sterling man is facing charges after allegedly pulling a gun on a tow truck driver along Columbia Pike.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at the CVS parking lot near Penrose Square.

The 28-year-old man and a driver for controversial trespass towing company Advanced Towing were engaged in a dispute over a tow when the former drew a gun, according to Arlington County police and scanner traffic.

The suspect was pulled over about a mile west on the Pike, while driving a pickup truck registered to a concrete company, according to initial reports.

BRANDISHING, 2024-09220115, 2600 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 4:04 p.m. on September 22, police were dispatched to the report of a brandishing. The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim, who was operating as a tow truck driver, and the male suspect became involved in a verbal dispute over towing a vehicle during which the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers observed the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Columbia Pike, conducted a traffic stop and detained the suspect. During the course of the investigation, two firearms were recovered. [The suspect], 28, of Sterling, VA, was arrested and charged with Brandishing and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Another brandishing incident was reported earlier in the weekend.

Police are looking for a pair of teens who allegedly pulled a gun on a victim in the Arlington Ridge Shopping Center parking lot Saturday night.

BRANDISHING, 2024-09210156, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 9:22 p.m. on September 21, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim exited a business when he observed a red SUV with three occupants driving in the parking lot, during which Suspect One brandished a firearm from the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then parked and Suspect Two exited the vehicle with the firearm and fled on foot before the vehicle drove away.
