D.C.-area salon, once frequented by Kamala Harris, opens Crystal City location

A popular D.C.-area nail salon opened its first Northern Virginia location in Crystal City over the weekend.

Nailsaloon, voted “Best Mani-Pedi” in Washingtonian’s 2023 Reader Picks, opened for business on Sunday at 1900 Crystal Drive on the business’ 10th anniversary.

Founded by former journalist and speech writer Andréa Vieira in 2014, the salon’s other locations have catered to some of D.C.’s top political players. Vice President Kamala Harris was one of the business’s clients during her time in the U.S. Senate, Allure reported.

The new Crystal City location — next door to Colada Shop, on the ground floor of The Grace and Reva apartments — has a total of 24 total service stations.

Its interior “intends to feel more like a lounge than a traditional salon,” with “vintage residential touches” and sage-colored finishes, according to a press release. The salon offers nail technician and waxing services, with a commitment to “non-toxic nail care.”

Vieira was inspired to start the business after a poor experience at a nail salon in Seattle. She previously worked as a freelance producer, as a senior communications officer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and as managing editor of Animal Planet International.

The new Crystal City salon is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It joins three D.C. locations and one in Chevy Chase.
