The ARLnow Press Club has 120 new members and we want to sincerely extend our appreciation to those who stepped up to — and continue to — support local news.
We put out the call to email newsletter subscribers earlier this week that we needed some help, at least temporarily, to support a larger newsroom following our GazetteLeader acquisition last month. Arlington was in danger of losing the GazetteLeader’s comprehensive local government and sports coverage had the acquisition not happened.
Our team is greatly encouraged by (and appreciative of) the support — and we have received the message loud and clear: this community values local journalism.
Before starting this campaign, we were very uncertain of our goal of growing the Press Club to over 500 members. But now we’re tantalizingly close — within 30 new members — of getting there.
If you like living in a place with a healthy local news outlet that employs experienced reporters who attend local meetings and court hearings, and report on the accomplishments of our local athletes, then please consider joining.
