Amid chilly weather and decorations going up around Arlington, the holiday season — and, by extension, Christmas tree sales season — has arrived.
Many tree sales around Arlington will start on Friday and Saturday, right after Thanksgiving. In parks, parking lots and garden centers, the festive firs won’t be hard to find — though some markets encourage early shopping.
The county will, as usual, collect Christmas trees during a special curbside pickup in January. While there’s no official count of how many piney purchases Arlingtonians make each year, 64 tons of trees were collected last season, a county spokesperson told ARLnow.

In Arlington
Clarendon United Methodist Church
When: Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8; online pre-ordering available now

A total of 275 Canadian Fraser firs are available at the Clarendon United Methodist Church’s tree sale this season. Trees and wreaths will be available in the church parking lot while supplies last.
Sales benefit New Hope Housing and Undue Medical Debt.
Optimist Club of Arlington
When: Starting at noon Nov. 29
5115 Little Falls Road (Yorktown)
The Optimists Club’s decades-old annual Christmas tree sale opens Friday in the Knights of Columbus parking lot. The Optimists are selling tabletop to 9-foot tall Fraser firs and 5- to 6-foot white pine trees from Galax, Virginia, as well as garlands, wreaths and White House ornaments.
Regular hours are 2-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 8 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Sales benefit academic, civic and sports programs for Arlington youth.
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
When: Starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 30
830 23rd Street S. (Aurora Highlands)
Our Lady of Lourdes’ Christmas tree sale begins Saturday in the church parking lot at the corner of 23rd Street S. and Hayes Street. The sale will run from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, and from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. The church recommends shopping early.
Scout Troop 162
When: Starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 29
6000 Wilson Blvd (Boulevard Manor)
Scout Troop 162’s 50th annual Christmas tree lot will return from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Friday at the Dominion Hills Pool parking lot. The troop — which will also offer wreaths and garlands — first began selling Christmas trees in the 1970s.
Following opening day, regular hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Scout Troop 167
When: From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 29-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8; online pre-ordering available now.
1500 N. Glebe Road (Waycroft-Woodlawn)
Scout Troop 167’s Christmas tree sale begins Friday at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. The troop is selling North Carolina-grown Fraser firs ranging in height from 6 to 8 feet. The troop’s trees come from Cartner Christmas Tree Farm in North Carolina, the same farm that supplied the White House’s Blue Room Christmas tree this year.
Two evergreen wreath designs, “EZ” hangers and tree stands are also available.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
When: Starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 29

St. Andrew’s will kick off its annual Christmas tree sale on Friday, with fresh-cut trees of varying sizes. The Rossana coffee truck will be on-site from Nov. 29-Dec. 1 with refreshments.
Regular hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. In recent years, the church notes that it has sold about 85% of trees on the first weekend.
The Lodge at Metropolitan Park

1330 S. Fair Street (Pentagon City)
Alexandria-based, family-owned tree seller Almost Heavenly Trees will host a pop-up tree sale at The Lodge, an annual ski-themed winter festival at Metropolitan Park.
The festival hosts several activities, including a holiday market, crafts, a dog sweater contest and peppermint mocha competition.
Whole Foods

Tabletop and full-size Christmas trees, wreaths and decorative plants were spotted outside the Whole Foods in Clarendon this morning (Monday).

6210 Seven Corners Center
The Home Depot near Falls Church sells both fresh-cut and artificial trees and decorations. According to the store’s website, hundreds of live trees are available for free, local delivery.
Meadows Farms Nurseries and Landscape

6461 Arlington Blvd
Minutes outside Falls Church, Meadows Farms expects to have about 3,500 trees in stock this season, plus live wreaths and poinsettias, an employee told ARLnow. The shop received a shipment of trees on Thursday.
The garden center’s website shows four varieties of fir trees and white pines for sale.
Merrifield Garden Center

New shipments of fresh trees arrived at the Merrifield Garden Center near Falls Church on Friday. The store transforms into a Christmas shop from November to December each year, selling Christmas trees, ornaments, lights, decorations, artificial wreaths, gifts and other holiday goodies.
