Skincare studio with monthly memberships coming to Clarendon

A skincare studio offering monthly facial memberships plans to open this summer in Clarendon.

With personalized, 30-minute “results-driven” facials from licensed estheticians, Glowbar expects to open between July and September at 2930 Clarendon Blvd, founder Rachel Liverman told ARLnow. The address currently houses a Verizon store.

“Not only can Glowbar help keep people’s skin radiant all year, but it can also help with a variety of skin concerns that can be hard to treat at home without the help of a professional, like acne, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation,” Liverman said.

Glowbar’s website promises tailored skincare treatments and recommendations in a “welcoming and upbeat environment.”

In addition to facials — which can include procedures such as LED light therapy and chemical peels — the location plans to sell a small selection of Glowbar merchandise.

A monthly facial membership costs $60 and includes perks like discounted retail and additional treatments. Drop-in appointments for non-members go for $75 each.

Liverman, a third-generation esthetician, founded Glowbar in 2019 after struggling to find “effective, accessible and trustworthy” places to frequent for skincare treatments.

Her grandmother, Catherine Hinds, founded the country’s first accredited esthetics school in 1977.

“I set out to create Glowbar and to disrupt the industry further,” Liverman said. “A facial studio like Glowbar is something that should be part of your monthly routine; a quick and efficient facial you can fit in before or after work that doesn’t break the bank.”

Today, the brand is considered one of the “fastest growing private companies in America,” per Inc. Magazine.

The forthcoming Clarendon studio will be Glowbar’s first Arlington location. The chain has a D.C. location in Georgetown, with another in Logan Circle expected to open this February.

Glowbar has opened 17 studios on the East Coast since its founding in New York City. Liverman said the company plans to continue growing in the D.C. area and beyond next year.

Verizon employees told ARLnow the store plans on relocating to nearby 2900 Clarendon Blvd, the former spot of Le Pain Quotidien, in the coming months.
