A new medical spa and wellness studio are coming to Ballston, taking over the location of a wine bar that closed last month.

McLean-based Evexia Med Spa plans to open a second location at 4301 Wilson Blvd — the former Grand Cru Wine Bar and Bistro space — alongside a new “recovery wellness center,” Evexia Bio Studio, Evexia Managing Partner Chirjeev Sawhney told ARLnow.

A fish-forward pedicure experience is in store for some shoppers at the Pentagon City mall.

At Garra Spas, clients dip their feet into basins filled with garra rufa fish for a pedicure. The toothless, freshwater species is known to feed on dead skin with a “gentle, therapeutic touch,” owner Christina Pearson said in a release.

A new facial studio has opened in Clarendon with a repaired storefront, just days after the business’s windows were shattered in a vandalism last week.

Glowbar is now in business with fresh windows at 2930 Clarendon Blvd, where Verizon closed earlier this year. This is the skin care brand’s first Virginia location.

A sauna franchise is preparing to open a studio in Clarendon.

Perspire Sauna Studio is in development across the street from the Clarendon Metro station, according to public records and new storefront signage. The company claims that its infrared sauna and therapy services, available in packages and monthly memberships, come with numerous health benefits.

Clarendon is slated to welcome a cold therapy studio on the old grounds of IOTA Club.

iCRYO, a Texas-based wellness industry franchise, offers various therapies, procedures, intravenous drips and “body sculpting.” The studio is “coming soon” to 2832 Wilson Blvd, where IOTA Club once stood.

A skincare studio offering monthly facial memberships plans to open this summer in Clarendon.

With personalized, 30-minute “results-driven” facials from licensed estheticians, Glowbar expects to open between July and September at 2930 Clarendon Blvd, founder Rachel Liverman told ARLnow. The address currently houses a Verizon store.

Privai Spa and Salon at the Westpost shopping center in Pentagon City appears to have closed its doors.

ARLnow received a tip about the spa (1101 S. Joyce Street) closing last week. The doors were locked during what should have been business hours when ARLnow stopped by this week, though there are no signs announcing the closure and the lights remained on.

(Updated at 11 a.m.) An athletic club and coworking space totalling more than 100,000 square feet says it will be opening this summer in Clarendon.

Construction on Life Time at 1440 N. Edgewood Street has been underway for some time, following the August 2021 announcement that it was coming to a renovated office building that’s part of The Crossing Clarendon retail center.

The newly-constructed Azure Dream Day Spa in Ballston is set to hold a grand opening celebration next Friday, Aug. 12.

The spa is located at 901 N. Quincy Street, a short walk away from the Ballston Metro station, in an extensively renovated, stand-alone building that used to house Sichuan Wok.

A commercial building that looks like a house, but was once a restaurant, is under construction in Ballston.

Owner Arash Hosseinzadeh tells ARLnow the former Sichuan Wok building at 901 N. Quincy Street, which is nestled among large apartment and office towers, will “be converted to a day spa with many great services to offer.”
